Tashkent
Tashkent is a cosmopolitan city, aired by large parks and cooled by numerous
fountains. Take the underground train so as to see the architecture of the
stations, similar to Moscow's. Stroll around the streets of Eski shakar in the
Old Town, north from Chorsu bazaar, very lively at the week end. Very close-by,
pay attention to the medersa (Koranic school) of Barak-Khan, decorated with
fine mosaics and Arabic calligraphy and a little further down, before Navoi
avenue, Kukeldash avenue, lined with a few 15th century houses. At night time,
linger along the lively pedestrian street - Khamza - behind Tamerlan square
